How To Make A Hair Bow
What You Will Need: Covered alligator clip, 4 inches of 3/8″ ribbon, 24 inches of 3/8″ ribbon & 20 inches of 1 ½” ribbon.
Step 1Prepare the needed supplies to make a basic hair bow. Be sure to heat seal each of the ribbon ends.
Step 2Take the 20 inch length of ribbon and turn it over. Mark the center of the ribbon with a pencil.
Step 3Take one end of the ribbon and fold it over forming a loop. Place the end of the ribbon directly over the center mark.You may also add a thin layer of glue to the ribbon end to secure it to the center point.
Step 4Take the other end of the ribbon and fold it over forming another loop. Overlap the ribbon at the center mark.
Step 5Bring the top loop down to the center to form the top part of the bow.
Step 6Bring the bottom loop up to the center to form the bottom part of the bow. Pinch the bow in the center and ensure that the loops are even.
Step 7Take the threaded needle and weave it through the center of the bow.
Step 8Weave down and back up through the ribbon three times.Keep the needle in the ribbon for the next step.
Step 9Pinch the ribbon on each side of the needle.
Step 10Pull the needle through the ribbon and wrap the thread around the center of the bow a few times.
Step 11Knot the thread to the back of the bow.
Step 12Cut off the remaining thread with scissors.
Step 13Shape the bow by pulling each of the loops apart.
Step 14Take the 24 inch length of ribbon and mark every 6 inches with a pencil.
Step 15To form the first loop, take one end of the ribbon over to the first mark. Attach the ribbon with glue at the first mark.
Step 16Take the ribbon and bring it around forming a second loop. Attach the ribbon with a thin layer of glue at the second mark.
Step 17Take the ribbon and bring it around forming a third loop. Attach the ribbon with a thin layer of glue at the third mark.
Step 18Finish by forming a fourth loop with the remaining ribbon. Attach the ribbon with glue at the fourth mark.The surrounding loops are now complete.
Step 19Apply glue to the center of the surrounding loops and adhere to the center (back side) of the bow.
Step 20Apply a thin layer of glue to the back of the covered alligator clip and attach it to the back side of the bow.
Step 21Open the alligator clip and apply a thin layer of glue in the center. Take the 4 inch ribbon and secure the end to the inside of the alligator clip.
Step 22Wrap the ribbon tightly around the center of the bow and secure the ribbon inside the alligator clip with glue. Cut off the excess ribbon with scissors.
